 February 2018 Annuity Letters in the Mail

TRS members whose monthly annuity will change at the end of February 2018 will receive a letter by the end of the month showing your monthly annuity minus any deductions and the net amount that will be deposited into your account each month.

In most cases, the changes in February are due to updates the income-tax withholding tables for 2018. On Jan. 11, 2018, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released Notice 1036, which TRS began using the 2018 withholding tables in February as instructed by the IRS. If you are a retiree from the University of Texas, your monthly insurance premium could also be deducted from your annuity payment beginning in February.

TRS members whose monthly annuity changed at the end of January 2018 also received a similar letter that month showing their annuity amount. In most cases, the changes to annuities in January resulted from TRS-Care premium changes in 2018 that took effect on Jan. 1, 2018.
