TRS, as developer and manager of this website, is committed to making sure that your personal information remains confidential. We have taken several steps to safeguard the integrity of our communications and computing infrastructure, including but not limited to password authentication, monitoring, auditing, and support of Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption of your browser communications.
Security measures have been integrated into the design, implementation and day-to-day operations of the entire TRS business environment as part of our continuing commitment to protecting TRS information resources. We employ special security measures to protect your information — including username and password authentication, program "time-outs," and TLS encryption.
The MyTRS page and other TRS computer systems are for legal and authorized use only. Unauthorized access, attempted access, or use of this or any related TRS or State of Texas system is a violation of Texas Computer Crimes Law (Texas Penal Code Title 7, § 33.01-33.07) and/or applicable federal law, and may be subject to prosecution. Individuals using this system without authority, or in excess of their authority, are subject to having their activities on the site monitored and recorded beyond our normal monitoring and recording. When you log in to our secure services on MyTRS, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the TRS Privacy Statement and the MyTRS Security Statement, and that you are the individual who is the subject or authorized representative of the MyTRS account accessed.
About Encryption
Encryption is the electronic "scrambling" of information — like a secret code. When you are on any MyTRS page, TRS uses TLS encryption between your computer and the TRS web-enabled service. This protects member-specific information from being viewed by a third party. MyTRS also encrypts your password in our computer systems.
Your Role in Security
Making sure your confidential information is secure is also an important responsibility for you. You are responsible for ensuring your personal password remains secure, so you should not reveal your password to anyone. If you believe an unauthorized person has gained access to it, you should change it immediately.
As part of good security practices, you should change your password regularly. Also, never walk away from your computer when using MyTRS. You should also review the TRS Privacy Statement for more information.
Note: This MyTRS Security Statement is subject to change without notice and reflects current TRS business practices. Your use is subject to the most current version of the security statement. You should check this statement from time to time. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use MyTRS.
