Premium Rates Stay Flat or Decrease Across Regionally Priced Plans
TRS-ActiveCare moved to regional rating to ensure prices reflect the cost of health care in your area. And now, in the 2022-23 plan year, none of the 20 Education Service Center regions will see a price increase from last year.
This is also in part due to additional federal COVID-19 funding from the Governor and Texas legislative leadership. Read TRS' press release for more details:

With these factors, the 2022-23 plan year is a reset for TRS-ActiveCare. We’ll continue to innovate in order to keep your prices competitive and your benefits robust and personal. Rising medical cost trends are an ongoing challenge. But we landed on an important starting point for our new regionally priced plans.

Why TRS Moved to Regional Pricing
Health care is personal, not one-size-fits-all. It changes as we age, shift lifestyles, or grow our families. It can even change depending on where we live. And just like gas or groceries, health care prices vary from place to place.
This is why TRS is moving to regional pricing — so the prices you pay reflect where you live and work.

What This Means For You
The only change regional rating makes to your plan is how it’s priced. You can still access 90% of Texas hospitals and the network with the most doctors in Texas. And you don’t need to limit where you seek care. If you work in Region 1 but want to see a doctor in Region 2, you can!
Review Your Rates
Your 2022-23 rate is based on the Education Service Center (ESC) of your employer. If you don't know which ESC this is, please search for your employer's name in
this ActiveCare Districts list (pdf). If your employer switched ESCs after Oct. 4, 2021, your 2022-23 rates are still based on their previous ESC.
Click on your ESC region below for a preview of total premiums for each plan. The prices listed are before your employer’s contribution, which will be a minimum of $225. Check with your employer to find out how much they will contribute.
