Aug. 25, 2017 TRS Board meeting cancelled
AUSTIN – Due to the impending hurricane expected to hit landfall tomorrow along the Texas coast, and in the interest of public safety, Friday’s TRS Board meeting has been cancelled.
The board meeting is rescheduled for next Friday, Sept. 1, 2017. The meeting start time of 9 a.m. and the agenda will remain the same. The agenda and board meeting materials are available on the TRS website (www.trs.texas.gov). The meeting will be webcast live and available on demand afterwards.
TRS delivers retirement and related benefits that have been authorized by the Texas Legislature, and manages a more than $140 billion trust fund established to finance member benefits. Nearly 1.5 million public education and higher education employees and retirees currently participate in the system.
The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is one of the largest retirement systems in the nation. The system's core mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Texas educators by prudently investing and managing trust assets and delivering member benefits. As of August 31, 2024, TRS pension fund had a market value of $209.5 billion.
