MyTRS Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

At TRS, the safety and security of our members and their sensitive information remain a top priority. This is especially true when it comes to protecting members’ information through MyTRS – the online access part of the TRS website. As a MyTRS user, your account information is made readily available to you. It’s now more important than ever to make sure strong security measures are in place so that your information remains private.

When logging in to MyTRS, users will be required to verify their identity each time they log in using the MFA process.

Completing the MFA Process Upon Establishing Your New MyTRS Account

If you’re logging in to MyTRS for the first time, after completing the MyTRS account activation, follow these instructions to complete the initial MFA process:

  1. Enter your new User ID and Password on the MyTRS login screen. Click “Sign In.”
  2. Choose if you’d like to receive your MFA authentication code by SMS (text message) or by voice call. Click “Setup” for the method you prefer.
  3. Enter your phone number for the mobile device for which you would like to receive the code. Click “Send code.”
  4. Check the mobile device to obtain your authentication code. Enter the code into the designated space on the MyTRS screen. Click “Verify.”
  • Note: If you do not receive an email with a code or your code expires, click on “Send code.” If you enter an incorrect code too many times in a row, your account will be locked, and you must wait a short amount of time before trying to log in again.

Once you’ve successfully completed these steps, you will have access to your personal information.

Modifying Your Authentication Factor

All MyTRS users must follow the MFA process for each login session. Your code cannot be reused. You will receive a new code each time you log in. If you wish to change the way you receive your authentication code for future login sessions:

  1. Log in to MyTRS and select “Update Multi-Factor Authentication” under the Account Management tab.
  2. Choose “SMS Authentication” if you’d like to receive codes by text message. Choose “Voice Call Authentication” if you’d like to receive codes by phone call.
  • If you select both methods, you can then further choose (with the drop-down arrow on the login screen) which of the two methods you want to use at the time of logging in.

If you are satisfied with the current method used to obtain your code, you do not need to take any action.
