Help is there when you need it. It’s one more way TRS and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) are here for TRS-ActiveCare and TRS-Care participants, every day.

It’s the middle of the night and you need to find a provider and facility immediately.

You can call us at 1-866-355-5999, no matter what time it is, for help locating a doctor or facility in your network.

You hurt your knee at the gym and need a ballpark cost for an MRI, but it’s loud in there.

Can’t make a phone call? You can also chat using the BCBSTX App whenever you need cost estimates.

You need a COVID-19 test close to work and your mom needs a booster shot near her home.

Call us or chat anytime. You have help at your finger tips, any time you need it, for every covered member of your family.

 

With your TRS-ActiveCare and TRS-Care Standard coverage, you have Personal Health Guides (PHGs) to advocate for and help you at no extra cost. Think of them as health plan experts and personal assistants who are available 24/7 to help you understand, use, and manage your coverage.

PHGs are specially trained  BCBSTX representatives who know all the ins and outs of TRS health plan coverage. Call a PHG at 1-866-355-5999 anytime, day or night, or chat with a PHG through the BCBSTX App. You can:

  • Ask questions about your coverage and prescription drug benefits
    • Reach out with questions like, “Am I covered for that medication?” and “How much is my copay for this specialist appointment?”
  • Find an in-network therapist
    • PHGs are specifically trained  in mental health benefits, so they can help you choose the best provider or facility for your needs. They can also connect you with a Behavioral Health Case Manager or crisis support resources if needed. Be sure to mention  mental or behavioral health as the reason for your call. 
  • Help you schedule appointments with providers
    • Not only will a PHG find you a provider, but they can also reach out to make an appointment.
  • Order new ID cards
    • Whether you’ve lost your card or need an additional card for a family member, your request is just a call or chat away. A PHG can also help you get your digital ID card.
  • Check the status of a claim
    • Get real-time updates about your claims, so you know where you stand.
