Vacation (Annual) Leave
New employees are eligible to take annual leave after they have been employed by the state for six continuous months. The six continuous months can be at any time during the employee's lifetime. Employees accrue annual leave based on their length of state service.
Sick Leave
Full-time employees accrue eight hours of sick leave each month, and it may be used when the employee or an immediate family member is ill or for medical appointments. An employee accrues and is eligible to use sick leave beginning on the first day of employment. Thereafter, an employee accrues sick leave on the first day of the calendar month.
Other Leave
Additional leave is available to eligible employees, including emergency leave, family and medical leave, parental leave, and recognition leave.
Holidays
Employees typically receive between 12 and 15 days of paid holiday leave each year as set by the state legislature.
