The Pulse, December 2022

Get To Know Your TRS-Care Standard ID Card

You should already have your new ID Card for the 2023 plan year. If you don't have it yet, it's on the way!

How To Read Your ID Card

There's a lot of information on your card, and it may seem a bit overwhelming. We'll break it down for you. Below is a sample card with explanations of the most important items.

Front of Card

  • Subscriber Name — This is on the left. If you have dependents on your plan, they will be listed on the right. Each person on your plan will receive a card.
  • Identification Number — This number is unique to you and your covered dependents.
  • Group Number — Everyone covered by the policy shares this number.
  • Network — This is the name of your provider network. In this example, the network is "Blue Edge."
  • BlueCard® — The suitcase symbol shows that you can get care while traveling or living in another Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan's service area.

  • Customer Service/Contacts (Top Right) — Call these phone numbers if you have questions or need help using your benefits. Call the 24/7 Nurseline to ask basic health care questions and get information about symptoms, side-effects and when to go to the doctor.
  • Deductible — This is the amount you must pay toward your health insurance costs before your health plan begins to pay for your covered services.
  • Out-of-Pocket Maximum — The most you have to pay out of your own pocket for covered medical services under your insurance plan during the year.

Other Important Information

You'll also find cost information on the front of your card for TRS Virtual Health visits through RediMDTM and TeladocTM.  You and your covered family members can see licensed board-certified doctors for medical care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the comfort of your home, work or anywhere.
