TRS Health Resources during Winter Storm

The Pulse, February 2021

Many areas around the country continue to be affected by periods of snow, ice, freezing rain, and power outages. The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings across several states through early this week as heavy snow and ice spreads across the country. As of Feb. 14, a Governor's Declaration of Emergency has been issued for Louisiana, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Texas due to winter weather. During this challenging time, your TRS health plan has resources to keep your prescriptions on track.

TRS-ActiveCare & TRS-Care Standard

TRS-ActiveCare and TRS-Care Standard participants in the affected area can receive one-time emergency refills of a 10-day supply of medication.

CVS Caremark will contact affected participants within the emergency area taking specialty medications to discuss alternate delivery arrangements if needed. CVS Caremark may use courier services, as necessary.

For mail order services, CVS Caremark will continue to attempt to deliver the medication to the extent the U.S. Postal Service is physically able to deliver packages. If you need your medication delivered somewhere other than your home, contact CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy.

Participants who have questions about a medication delivery should call Customer Care at the toll-free number on their prescription ID card.

TRS-Care Medicare Rx participants located in an area of declared emergency will have access to immediate refills of their Part D medications throughout the emergency declaration. Participants can receive an override on early refills for the days' supply, as available at the time of refill, up to the maximum extended-days' supply.

SilverScript will contact impacted participants within the emergency area taking specialty medications to discuss alternate delivery arrangements, if needed. SilverScript may use courier services, as necessary. You may also receive an override for a Specialty medication, upon request and approval.

Participants may request their medications to be transferred to a different pharmacy, outside the emergency area. They may also fill prescriptions at out-of-network pharmacies. If you go to an out-of-network pharmacy, be prepared to pay out-of-pocket and file a paper claim for reimbursement.

For mail order services, SilverScript will continue to attempt to deliver the medication to the extent the U.S. Postal Service is physically able to deliver packages. If you need your medication delivered elsewhere, contact CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy.
