Teacher Retirement System Hires New Deputy Director
Caasi Lamb returns to TRS to continue her career serving Texans
AUSTIN — The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is pleased to announce the hire of Caasi Lamb as the pension trust fund’s newest deputy director, with a scheduled start date of Monday, July 8, 2024. Lamb replaces Andrew Roth who this month left TRS after five years to lead the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association as CEO.
The new role marks a return to TRS for Lamb who began her tenure at the system in 2014 culminating in the executive role of Chief Strategy Officer. Most recently, Lamb served as Chief Strategy & Operations Officer at Advanced Electronic Designs in Bozeman, Montana.
The deputy director at TRS is responsible for overseeing the agency’s daily operations, coordinating strategic planning efforts, and maintaining open communications with TRS trustees. The position also includes representing the agency to members, government officials and the public.
In her new role, Lamb will be responsible for leading projects such as the pending opening of a new Member Experience Center and headquarters campus in 2025, the evolution of the MyTRS member services portal, a TRS website redesign and completing the transition of TRS administrative systems from the legacy mainframe to a more modern, efficient platform.
"This is a very exciting time to be back at TRS,” Lamb said. “I am looking forward to reconnecting with the TRS team as we continue our focus on best serving public education employees and retirees as the largest pension trust fund in Texas and one of the top 10 in the nation.”
Lamb will report directly to TRS Executive Director Brian Guthrie. “We conducted a thorough search process to find the right person to help lead TRS into our next chapter, and I could not be more thrilled that Caasi will be rejoining us in this new role. She’ll be a tremendous asset to our executive team as our pension trust fund continues to grow along with Texas,” Guthrie said.
Before her time at TRS, Lamb had a successful career working for the Texas Legislature, including in senior budget and policy advisory roles for the Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House, and House Appropriations Committee.
The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is one of the largest retirement systems in the nation. The system's core mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Texas educators by prudently investing and managing trust assets and delivering member benefits.
