Teacher Retirement System of Texas named a Top Workplace for a ninth time

AUSTIN – Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) has been selected as a winner of the annual Austin Top Workplaces 2020, by the Austin American-Statesman. This is the agency’s ninth award in the past 11 years and is based solely upon employee feedback. The anonymous survey accounts for various metrics of work culture including alignment, execution and connection. TRS employs nearly 800 people across three lines of business that include benefit services, health insurance services and investment management.

“This is really a testament to our employees’ dedication to our mission, to our members and to what we do every day,” said rob. “I am thankful so many TRS personnel took the time to respond to the survey in a hugely challenging year. I am grateful that TRS has come through the challenges of 2020 stronger than ever.”

The agency is responsible for managing retirement and health benefits for more than 1.6 million active and retired educators across Texas and is the sixth largest public U.S. pension fund by size. As of 8/31/2020, the TRS pension fund had a market value of $165.4 billion.

The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is one of the largest retirement systems in the nation. The system's core mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Texas educators by prudently investing and managing trust assets and delivering member benefits. As of August 31, 2024, TRS pension fund had a market value of $209.5 billion.
