Teacher Retirement System of Texas Named a Top Workplace for 11th Time
AUSTIN—For the 11th time, Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) has been named a Top Workplace in the annual Austin rankings published by the Austin American-Statesman.
TRS ranked among the top ten in the Large Employers category this year. The Top Workplaces Program recognizes workplaces as nominated by the employees who appreciate the culture and benefits their job environments provide. Additionally, TRS received national Top Workplace USA awards this year and in 2021.
“Again, this year, TRS team members have shown how much they care about our positive culture of commitment and collaboration as we all work to better serve our pension plan members and their families every day,” said TRS Executive Director Brian Guthrie.
It is notable that the most recent recognition from TRS employees comes amid today’s challenging professional environment where hiring and retaining qualified people are top priorities for success. Externally, TRS is proud to show the growing economic value of its work to all of Texas. This fall the system published its biennial Value Brochure highlighting that one in 20 Texans is a member of TRS, among other data.
TRS of Texas is responsible for managing retirement and health benefits for more than 1.9 million active and retired participants and their beneficiaries. It is the sixth largest U.S. public pension fund by size. As of 8/31/2022, the TRS pension fund had a market value of $183.5 billion.
The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is one of the largest retirement systems in the nation. The system's core mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Texas educators by prudently investing and managing trust assets and delivering member benefits. As of August 31, 2024, TRS pension fund had a market value of $209.5 billion.
