In 2025, TRS moved into its new headquarters in the Mueller Community of Austin, Texas. To mark this milestone, a TRS Time Capsule was installed at the Member Center—a tribute to the legacy and future of Texas public educators.
What is the TRS Time Capsule?
The capsule celebrates:
- The history of TRS and its evolution.
- The contributions of Texas educators.
- The achievements of our members and organization.
It is designed to be reopened in 2055, representing a full career’s worth of impact and service.
On the day of the time capsule sealing, Sept. 10, 2025, a count-up timer was activated to track the days and minutes until the capsule can be opened and explored by future TRS members, retirees, staff and agency friends. This diagram explains how to read the numbers as Sept. 10, 2055 approaches. The capsule will be opened after 10,957 days.
