Watch Out for Email Phishing Attempts

Phishing is when someone pretends to be a person you know or a business you work with to steal your personal information - like passwords or bank details - through emails, social media, phone calls or texts. Protect yourself by watching for red flags, verifying requests directly with the person or company contacting you, using strong passwords, and setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA adds extra security by requiring two or more pieces of information to log in, like a password and a code sent to your phone. Lastly, never give personal information to anyone you are uncertain about or did not initiate contact with – and do not click on links in emails or text messages from unexpected senders.
