1099-R Income Tax Forms Mailed by Jan. 31
1099-R forms will be issued later this month to retirees, beneficiaries and former members who received one or more payments from TRS during calendar year 2024. A copy of your form will also be available in the MyTRS online member portal by Jan. 31. Once available, we encourage you to find your copy online for safe and instant delivery. This Just In - Important FYI for Retirees
The Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 is now officially law, repealing the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) that reduced or eliminated social security benefits for certain retirees who receive a pension from an employer that did not pay into social security. The best source for information on how this may affect you is the social security administration. Visit the SSA website for details and updates or call 1-800-772-1213. You can also visit SSA's HR 82 webpage, which includes an option to sign up for email updates.
As a friendly reminder, TRS benefit payments are not impacted by social security.
